Inclusive Post-Secondary Education

Red Deer Polytechnic (RDP) is one of many Alberta post-secondary institutions to partner with Inclusion Alberta to include students with intellectual disabilities who wish to attain higher education. Students are fully included in programs of study gaining valuable learning experiences alongside classmates. They also participate in campus life, pursue career aspirations and develop lifelong friendships

While students are enrolled at RDP, the inclusive post-secondary education team collaborates with students and their families to develop or maintain a vision for the life a student desires. Students audit classes within a program of study to pursue individualized learning goals related to regular course content and complete modified course assignments, exams, and practicums to demonstrate what they have learned. The students also participate in convocation, receiving a certificate of completion at the end of their studies.

Interested in applying for Inclusive Post-Secondary at RDP? Inclusive post-secondary education is open to any individual who is PDD (Persons with Developmental Disabilities) eligible. We do not exclude applicants based on complex needs and acknowledge that all individuals should have the ability to obtain a higher education if they want. Please note, tuition is not covered by PDD Funding and is the responsibility of each student. Students should budget for tuition, textbooks and associated fees.
