Is the CIM-TAC the right solution for my organization?
The Centre for Innovation in Manufacturing (CIM-TAC) focuses on the serving the needs of entrepreneurs and SMEs. We’ve successfully completed hundreds of client projects since opening in 2009.
What's the first step?
Start a project by getting in touch with us and filling out a Client Profile. Our team is ready to discuss your needs, assist with funding programs, refer you to one of our partners, or to book a tour of our facilities.
Who will work on my project?
The CIM-TAC team is made up of experts in design, simulation, manufacturing, validation, and commercialization of both new and existing products. We can also draw upon the broader expertise of Red Deer Polytechnic's faculty and students, as well as other TACs, colleges, and universities.
What’s the process to get started?
If the project is feasible, the CIM-TAC Manager and technical team will work with you to determine the project scope, objective, and deliverables. We’ll help you to access funding programs and grants where appropriate. The CIM-TAC Manager will formalize agreements, contracts, and costing for the project, and a technical team member will be assigned to oversee the project activities and deliverables and serve as the project lead.
What about intellectual property?
The Intellectual Property generated through your partnership with us rests with you. Leaving IP in the hands of our business partners is the best way to support a strong economy and help generate the employment opportunities that Red Deer Polytechnic graduates need.
How much will my project cost?
The project cost depends significantly on the type of service, the personnel involved, and the length of time required to complete your project. The CIM-TAC Manager will provide an estimate for the overall cost of the project before work is started.
Is there funding available for my project?
In many cases, different sources of funding are available to our clients and we can help you access them. In other cases, clients pay 100% of the cost of the project.
What is a Technology Access Centre (TAC)?
A TAC is an applied research and innovation centre that provides companies with access to state-of-the-art technology and equipment, as well as a multi-disciplinary team with the expertise to turn brilliant ideas into market-ready products. There is currently a network of 60 Technology Access Centres (TACs) across Canada affiliated with a college, cégep, or polytechnic institution.
