RDP employee receives provincial recognition for impactful work in Human Resources
Andrea Pinsent, Senior Advisor, People and Culture at Red Deer Polytechnic (RDP) has been recognized for her exemplary work and leadership in Human Resources by Chartered Professionals in Human Resources (CPHR) of Alberta.
Pinsent was nominated for the CPHR Alberta Impact Award at the 2023 Excellence Awards Ceremony hosted in Edmonton on September 12. Along with demonstrating exceptional leadership, Pinsent’s nomination acknowledged her efforts to enhance the performance and reputation of Red Deer Polytechnic through her strategic work in Human Resources.

Her expertise will continue to enhance RDP’s reputation as a premier polytechnic institution, preparing learners for the workforce by offering enhanced education, training and applied research opportunities.”
In June 2007, Pinsent joined Red Deer Polytechnic as Programs Administration Coordinator and later Operations Manager. In these roles Pinsent played an integral role within the academic division, managing the critical administrative functions that support the delivery of programming for RDP’s learners. As a respected and effective leader, Pinsent’s impact within the institution has grown.
Pinsent brings a high level of knowledge and skills to her current position of Senior Advisor as both a Chartered Professional in Human Resources and Chartered Professional Accountant. She has demonstrated leadership and expertise in institution-wide training and development initiatives, labour relations and workplace culture initiatives. Pinsent has identified efficiencies and addressed challenges in planning and implementing the expansion of programs at the Polytechnic.
Pinsent has been involved in several committees at Red Deer Polytechnic, including the Employee Experience Strategic Priority Committee and Awards of Excellence Committee. As Chair of RDP’s Awards of Excellence Committee, Pinsent creates a collaborative environment where committee members can excel in their roles. In the past, Pinsent has recommended Awards of Excellence nominees and recipients for external awards, showcasing the talent and dedication of the Polytechnic’s employees to broader communities.
CPHR Alberta presents its Excellence Awards annually to outstanding HR leaders, students, volunteers and organizations that contribute to the betterment of workplaces in Alberta, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut. Individuals are recognized in seven categories: Community Champion, Fellowship, HR Educator, HR Impact, HR Team of the Year, Rising Star and Strategic Innovator.
