Jillian Walls
Biography
Jillian, an instructor in the Kinesiology & Sport Studies program within the School of Health and Wellness, is passionate about promoting healthy living. As an alumna of Red Deer Polytechnic, she has served as a faculty member since 2009.
Jillian believes that instructing adult learners requires quality instruction of skills and character quality. Educators are considered experts in their field and should be excellent role models for their students. As a Kinesiology & Sport Studies instructor in health and wellness, she strongly believes that she should demonstrate the skills and values that she presents to her students. Through overarching classroom goals, she helps students gain skills to succeed in academia and in their personal and professional lives.
Jillian completed her Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and Recreation (BPE) at the University of Alberta and her Master of Education through the University of Calgary, specializing in Adult Education (MEd). This degree sparked Jillian’s passion to explore the field of mind-body health and its role in lifelong wellness. She has extensive training in mindfulness, is a certified yoga instructor and has received world-class training in multiple dance genres.
Jillian’s genuine interest in health and wellness, combined with her passion for teaching, supports a meaningful student experience.
