Jason Engel
Biography
Dr. Jason Engel has a DBA (Finance Dissertation) from William Howard Taft University, an MBA from Dalhousie University and a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and Finance from the University of Calgary. Additionally, he has designations in Accounting and Financial Planning. Prior to joining RDP, Jason was a branch manager for Royal Bank. He was an RBC Performance convention winner, awarded to the top 1% of staff. Combined, Jason has over 25 years of experience working in and teaching Financial Services.
Jason incorporates his experience in money management, investing, retirement planning and budgeting into his classes and in his volunteer work. He guest lectures at Red Deer Polytechnic and in the community such as high schools. Jason is passionate about adult learners and youth and has volunteered with middle and high school youth for over 30 years.
Jason’s relationship with the financial services community has led to industry personnel (and potential employers) being closely involved with the Financial Services program. For example, industry personnel critique student work and conduct mock interviews with students. He creates opportunities for his students to network, obtain interviews and ultimately find jobs. Financial Services graduates have had a phenomenal record of employment and promotion.
Jason developed the Personal Finance course, which is popular amongst both business and non-business students. Research shows that proper finances can lead to better health, longer lifespans and better relationships. Jason was central in developing the Financial Services concentration within the Bachelor of Business Administration program at RDP.
