Biography

Dean Bye is a seasoned Electrical and Alternative Energy Lab Technician at Red Deer Polytechnic with over two decades of experience in the electrical field. As a Certified Master Electrician, Dean brings a wealth of knowledge to his role. His expertise extends to the solar energy sector, where he has contributed significantly to design, operations, and maintenance for the last six years.

Since joining Red Deer Polytechnic in 2018, Dean has been involved in driving projects forward in the Energy Innovation Centre. He is a key member of the Data Sharing Alliance, a collaborative initiative that collects and analyzes solar micro-generator data to benefit the Alberta environment. Additionally, Dean spearheaded the battery energy storage system (BESS) collaboration between RDP Campus Management and the EIC, a pilot project that introduces energy storage solutions to RDP and will be used for peak shaving on campus.

Beyond his technical contributions, Dean is dedicated to sharing his knowledge and expertise. He has instructed trade students, industry partners, and community members on the principles, installation, and maintenance of solar energy generation. Dean's commitment to advancing sustainable energy practices and his passion for education make him a valuable asset to Red Deer Polytechnic and the broader community.
