Biography

Charissa Hassel began her post-secondary journey at the University of Lethbridge where she received her B.Ed and B.Sc with a major in mathematics. Shortly thereafter she began her career with Red Deer Polytechnic’s Academic Upgrading Program where she specializes in teaching high school equivalency courses to adult learners.

Throughout her career she has had the opportunity to collaborate with departments across the institution in a variety of diverse roles. She has networked with other post-secondary institutions, created remedial materials used in areas of math education, and lead efforts in enhancing student success rates.

Charissa’s interests in administration and leadership were sparked by her experience in the Masters Program at the University of Alberta. She received her Masters Degree in Educational Leadership and Administration in 2015, and applies her education and experience in her work with the Academic Upgrading Program.
