Andrea Johnston
Biography
Andrea Johnston is a Subject Librarian who is passionate about teaching information literacy, connecting folks to inspiring resources, and creating transformative and memorable library experiences for all.
Andrea has been at Red Deer Polytechnic since 2024 but began her librarian career in public libraries where she specialized in organizing large public events and finding ways to say yes! Some of her most memorable projects include organizing the annual Medieval Day celebration, creating a loanable ghost hunting kit, and meeting Fred Penner during the Canadian Children’s Literature Book Bash festival she planned and organized.
Some of her research interests include studying folktales and ghost stories, the history of Ireland (particularly the Troubles), information literacy in the time of AI, and open education resources in post-secondary environments.
