TEAm Huddle: Guest Speaker Madeline Potter | The Mind-Body Connection
Student-Athlete Only Event
Madeline began her gymnastics career at age 3 and quickly fell in love with the sport. Just three years later, she was invited into the competitive program where she grew her skills and eventually began qualifying for larger competitions. Madeline was invited to train at the Olympic Development Camp in Texas, a milestone that marked the beginning of her tenure with the Canadian National Team. From her experiences as an athlete, she has discovered a passion for mental health and the holistic approach to athlete training.
This passion steered her towards higher education, and in 2021, she graduated from the University of Calgary with a BA in Psychology. During her studies, she also completed her Yoga Teacher Training, embracing the role of an instructor. Her hope was to support athletes by integrating the mind and body wellness through yoga, focusing on rest, relaxation and mental resilience. She has had the privilege of working with many notable organizations, including Hockey Alberta and the Blackfalds Bulldogs, and volunteered her time and skills for Alberta Health Services Move Your Mood program. As an educator and mentor within the sports community, Madeline draws upon her own experiences to enrich the lives of athletes, helping them to achieve balance, and excel both on and off the field.
