Jessica Green
Jessica is an alumnus of the RDC BSc Nursing Program and practices as a registered nurse and most recently as an educator at Red Deer Polytechnic. Her professional journey has included working in various healthcare fields, such as rural acute care and postpartum care, before transitioning into the realm of education at RDP. During her time as an educator, Jessica discovered her passion for creating engaging, learner-centered classes. In the early stages of her teaching career, she co-presented at a CAPNE conference with a colleague, sharing insights on the Flipped Classroom approach to learning.
In addition to her enthusiasm for dynamic classrooms, Jessica developed a strong interest in assessments, particularly focusing on best practices and alternative assessment methods. She furthered her expertise by participating in courses and workshops related to crafting exam questions and collaborating with a team to develop a Virtual Reality Assessment for healthcare professionals. Amidst these endeavors, she found a passion for mentorship, assisting colleagues in their transition from clinical practice to the role of an educator, and served as a faculty navigator for several years.
As a rural Albertan, Jessica deeply appreciates the educational opportunities that are made available to rural communities. As part of her role in the Practical Nursing program, she dedicated several years as a Campus Alberta Liaison, actively contributing to the delivery of high-quality Practical Nurse programs to various regions in central Alberta. Her efforts aimed to ensure more equitable access to education for all.
