About the Paralegal Post-Diploma Certificate

The Paralegal Post-Diploma Certificate program is an Alberta Association of Professional Paralegals-endorsed part-time program designed for Legal Assistants already working in the legal field. The fifteen-month certificate includes eight theory-based courses and one consolidated practicum course will surely give you a competitive advantage. 

We're thrilled to offer a flexible course delivery option, where theory meets real-world application through our flexible course delivery and practicum program, to support your learning while working.

You can expect to be equipped with the necessary skills to specialize in contract law, professional ethics, legal research, legal drafting, torts, rules of evidence and legal interviewing. So, if you are looking to take on more responsibility within the legal field under the supervision of a lawyer, this certificate program is for you! 

Work-integrated Learning

In this post-diploma certificate, students can look forward to having a 105-hour field placement.

Further Study

Graduates of the Paralegal Post-Diploma Certificate program may wish to pursue further education to become a lawyer.

Admission Requirements

Tuition & Fees are due at registration.

Applicants must have graduated from an approved legal assistant program and one year of work experience.

Academic requirements are as follows:

  • Successful completion of English 20-1 or 60% in English 20-2

Where English is a Second Language (ESL), candidates must meet the English Language Proficiency and Academic English requirements.

Students will require a Personal Computer (PC) or laptop with a reliable internet connection. 

The software used in this course works best in a PC environment and is not usually compatible with MAC or Apple products.

Program Content

The Paralegal Post-Diploma Certificate program has nine courses that students are required to complete successfully to earn their certificate.

Graduation Requirements

Students are required to complete all courses with a minimum passing grade of 70% for each course. They must also meet all learning outcomes and 105 hours during their work experience portion of the program.
